N64 Cartridge Save
« on: March 07, 2005, 03:11:15 pm »
Hey Guys,

My girlfriend's Mario Kart 64 wont save anything anymore. Meaning, she cannot get the mirrored tracks anymore because nothing saves.

Does the n64 use batteries to back stuff up? I know some games do and dont i think.

Any advice for a quick fix?

Thanks for your time guys!

yes, it uses a battery..

gonna have to crack it open and replace it.. youll have to desolder the old one and solder a new one in place..

or just buy a new game..

I might as well get her a new one because i dont have a soldering iron and a battery. Which would be the same price as a mariokart64 these days. thanks for the input.

Where do you live?  I'm sure there's someone on the boards that lives close to you that would be willing to do a simple solder job as that for nothing.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em

And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

IIRC, Mario Cart64 uses the memory pack for the mirror tracks.  Try formatting the memory card/pack, or buy a new one.  The game itself should be fine.
