Mamewah and artwork
« on: March 03, 2005, 04:56:31 pm »
Up until now I was still using the .97 version and decided to upgrade to 1.61. But, I can't get the artwork 2 to show up. The snaps and movies work perfectly but not the others. I changed the artwork # in the layout designer and in the ini but no sucess... I don't know why the snaps work ok but not the other fields. That'S the only problem I have with the front end and I hope you'll be able to help. Thanks!!!

In 1.67b, if you create a folder in layouts (for this example, we'll name it:  Current), you need to go into the mamewah.ini and change the layout designation to Current.

Back in the "Current" folder is where you place your layouts and jpg's obviously.  I noticed the big difference in this version is that now in the "Current" folder, your layouts should be named the same as your ini folder for the emu.  Example:if your Atari emu is designated as "z26.ini" in the INI folder, then your layout should be named "z26.lay" and your jpg should be labeled "z26-main.jpg".

So in summary, whatever the name of your emu.ini is, your layout needs to have the same name.  If you are going to order your emus such as "mame-0" and "Zsnesw-1" and "Z26-2", be sure to name your layouts with the same name.

I hope this helps.  I am very green on this stuff, and I just spent last night solving this.  Shows how lost I am! ::)

I tried renaming my folder but I don't think it's that. My problem is that the artwork #1 field displays the snap shots correctly and the movies( for mame ) but all the other artwork fields don't show anything for the marquees, flyers etc... The background image for the layouts works ok, it's only the images that don't show up, except the artwork #1 field.

in the "emulator".ini file, do you have the right path for the artwork that is not showing up?

It sounds to me like you have more serious issues.  Try backing up your mamewah folder and restarting from scratch but this time use MAMAEWAH Config

I found where these problem come from and fixed them. For the artwork thing it's when I open the layout in the editor and save it all other artwork except #1 don't work. I think it's because of my french Windows it change all true and false into vrai and faux in the .lay. For the remember current game, it was an error in the ini, I don,T know what the error was but when I changed the ini it worked ok.  Everything is fine now, thanks.
