Monitor power question

Hey everyone, I am repairing a stack of G07 chassis for a couple of the local collectors I hang out with. I was wondering is it possible or even safe to run the chassis without the flyback mounted? Basicly I've been removing the flybacks so I can clean the boards prior to working on them, and I would like to test the power supply (B+) side of the chassis before I finish re-assembling them.

What's the general concensus on doing this?

Powering up without the flyback won't hurt anything. The flyback generates many of the other operating voltages for the various stages of the monitor so most of the monitor won't be operating at all. Howver the basic B+ supply (the +120 volts DC) should be present at the output of the power supply, but since the flyback is not in the circuit the powrer supply would not have sufficient load to regulate so would/could appear to be way too high of a voltage out.

Thanks Ken, I was hoping you'd say that. I'd be looking more or less to make sure that there is something close to the right B+ voltage on the bench before I re-assemble everything since a few of these monitors had been plugged in without an ISO transformer.
