Fullscreen on Eygo? 27"??
« on: October 30, 2002, 12:42:49 pm »
I have a Eygo 27" monitor (only runs 640x480), a 800 MHz Pentium, and Riva TNT 2 Ultra w/ 32 mb vram, and windows 2000.  I cannot get MAME to run fullscreen.  I have tried AdvanceMAME, but I admit not being able to configure is successfully.  I don't know much about PC's, I'm a Mac User, and it is all backwards to me.  In MAME32 the use hardware to to stretch is grayed out.  Please, someone tell me, or point me to a tutorial on how to do this.  The AdvanceMame site as of yet has not proven usefull in being successful, mainly because I don't understand a lot of it.

http://how.to/mame the purple mame page has a good tutorial for setting up advance mame... it's written for setting it up for an arcade monitor, but I was able to follow the directions using an SVGA pc monitor...

I had the same problem. It was a video card issue. I upgraded to an ATI Radeon 7000 (they're not too expensive), and suddenly the option was "ungrayed" and mame32 worked beautifully on my Eygo 27".

It's probably as simple as that.

I have the same system, but a geforce2mx... .I also have a TNT card (but not in my cabinet)... but they use the same drivers so you should be fine.

get mame.exe running first.

Then I used these settings

mame can't change resolutions (1) or bps.
hwstretching.

runs great.  I'm at work so I can't give you my exact mame.ini file..  But if you can't get it working, let me know

I have the same monitor running in WinXP (which is essentially the same as win2k), and to solve this problem just set your -resolution switch to 320X240 when in mame.  I think its just "mame romname -resolution 320 X 240".  It sounds like it would not work for all games, but I have found this to solve my problem when using all games, vertical, horizontal, pacman, neogeo, etc.  Let me know if you cant get it, maybe I can be of more help.

brjndr:

If the "stretch screen" is greyed out, it sounds like the computer isn't seeing the video card. Make sure you have the proper drivers installed.

Try forcing MAME to use 640x480, 60hz with stretch by default.
