Defendercade. Official launch

Nothing groundbreaking on this cab really. I've just spent a lot of time trying to give back some of its Defender glory.

In the process I vector traced the Defender side art & front art, and created stencils for them. I also vectored the original control panel art & most of the bezel. The artwork is available at the arcade art library. That's probably the biggest benefit to the community that I made during the creation of this machine.

It's still not officially "complete" I need to paint the side art, but I had planned to announce it all along when the front art was complete.

It was given to me as a Ten Yard Fight. I've converted it to a defender styled Mame cabinet. Once I get the side art finished, it will probably be converted into a fully working Defender again.

Thanks to tutankham.com / pr0k for excellent tutorials on bondo repair & stencilling.

At this point it's not too new. It's been around for a few years, I just now got around to doin the stencilling.

Thanks for the kind words... on the cab and on the site. The site's a dotmac template... I'm too lazy to actually develop my own website, which is really sad since I'm a web designer. For personal projects it's nice to do something clean and professional without having to try. ;D

I'm a few weeks away from finishing up my new tron panel and getting some artwork done for the fighter panel. I'll post update pics when I get those done.

LOL at the website comment... You can always tell a mechanic by his crappy car, and the mailman doesn't take a walk on his day off.  ;D

Your page is bookmarked. My buddy is a Defender freak, and he is going to flip out when he see's your cab. I set my standard panel up with a thumb button for Defender's reverse and just mapped the player 2 buttons to close approximations of the orignal panel, and I didn't think I was ever going to get him to leave.  ;)

I'm almost done with a Defender-inspired fighter cpo for my Defender cab if you're interested, might save you some work.  I basically have it done, I just had add the exit and pause buttons at the bottom where the Hyperspace button was.  In practice, it's much too easy to accidentally hit those buttons so I'm going to try switching them to the top and the start buttons to the bottom.  Let me know if you're interested or had any ideas.
