Seeking help with 33" Sharper Image 327
« on: February 27, 2005, 09:22:18 pm »
Picked up a showcase cabinet this weekend.  As well as a replacement 35" monitor.  After posting pics in the main forum of the cabinet, I had to agree with their thoughts that I could not let the 33" Sharper Image Monitor just be hauled off.

The monitor was dead on receipt, but this is what I was told about the monitor.

I'm not sure what's wrong with that monitor. I have the sneakin' suspicion that the tube is bad.  It was driving overbright anyway. I turn it on and nothing. The HV is working, but nobody home.

My guess is the grid on the tube blew up on power up. Chassis, I can fix (sometimes) but 33" tubes are hard to come by.  My guess (and it's a guess) is it's fried......  It's a Sharp Image 27 or 33",  You can download the manual. I have. It's the same as the sharp image 327 manual. You can find it at mikesarcade.com . But I don't think it's the chassis. I fix a lot of monitors, and I don't think this one will live. I think the tube grid is gone, that's why I stripped it. The chassis has been overdriven.  Somebody was in there fiddling with it, and they jumpered it with wires underneath. Maybe a bad trace, but I don't think so.....

You now know everything I know.  If anyone has any information about this monitor or has experience.  I could could post pics of the boards still attached to the tube.

My suggestion would be to contact the tech support dept at the manufacturer, www.sharpimage.net
