Anyone ever setup Server 2003? Questions

Here's my main question as I'm new to installing this system...

We plan on getting SErver 2003 and installing it on our home computer for a small home office.  But,  we plan on upgrading our current online connection to Verizon FIOS when it gets activated here.

If I install it now with our current DNS settings, will I have to go back and reinstall/setup everything associated with the DNS numbers, or will these items change automatically once we get hooked up to the new service?

I hope that post made sense...and any info is appreciated .

Not 100% sure I grokked your whole question, but:

You can change the TCP/IP (including DNS) settings on Server 2003 at any time without having to reinstall.

Yeah, sorry for the confusing question, but for our web hosting buisness, our ISP set up Windows NT 4 for us, so I'm new to this stuff and can't fully explain it.

Thanks for the answer . Right now, we have Cablevision Optimum Online. and I was concerned that if I installed the server 2003 software, the DNS settings would be 'set in stone' and I'd have to re-install the software when we got VErizon FIOS.

But now that I know I can change them manually, I can get the software and install it early.  The FIOS Service won't be activated for another month or so here in Wyckoff, but I want to get the software early so I can setup and debug any problems that may occur first.  Don't want our customers waiting for a month while I try and debug the problems...

2003 is locked up pretty tight by default , what i mean is that it doesnt like being used as a workstation .. just loging onto it and installing updates requires disabling a few security mesures , so keep track of what you do so you can re-enable them once your all up to date etc.

but as stated before your failry good to go as long as your not setting up active directory , AD has all sorts of issues with DNS ( must be installed on at least one server in the AD domain/tree ) and it likes to be on static ip's ...
so if your useing it as a workstation you will be fine ( of course you should use 2000 in that case ) but if your setting up a whole domain you could very well run into some ip problems  you CAN go back and change around the ip/dns settings manualy ( this is not a problem for clients as it's all dynamic , but for a AD server it's a bit tricky ) ... i would just double check you backup all data before messing with it.

Nope, not really using it as a work station.  This will be used as a full blown buisness webserver.  And yep, we'll be getting a Static IP with the new service we'll be installing.  First it'll be VErizon DSL, and then when it's activated here, FIOS...
