Taito Sideart Vector Help..mahuti, zorg, Guru's?
« on: February 20, 2005, 07:32:20 am »
The generic Taito Sideart is almost ready for posting to the AAL.  Go here for the logistical history of this project if you aren't aware ..http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,19558.msg156932.html#msg156932

However, I'm not happy with one area.  Specifically the two main dark green pin stripes that run parrallel with the main cabinet curve and each other. (See attached pic)

Mahuti, Zorg, any other AI gurus.. is there a method for me to draw 'parrallel curves' in AI.  These areas (identified with red arrows) were drawn free hand with bezier curves and attempted to be made parrellel by eye.  Obviously not good enough.  My AI manual/guide is not helping me out on this conundrum.

Little help before I post it up and complete the opposite side???

Cheers in advance.

Oh..a big thanks to 'Wade'(sideart dimensions and matching) and 'zorg'(path corrections) for help on this delayed project.

Wellll... The way that I could think of doing it is thusly.

Method 1.

Draw 1 line that looks like you want. Big fat stroke. THEN, use the "object>path>outline stroke" command. Then join it wth your other paths.

Method 2.
Draw 1 line. Duplicate it, scale it. This might or might not work... I'd go with method 1.

You can use the Contour command in Coreldraw.  It draws parallel curves and lines inside or outside of any object.  I know this isn't much help but if you can't get it to work in AI, send it over as and eps and I can do it.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

You can also draw a line down the center and choose "offset path" and it will do something similar to what Nannuu was mentioning.

Thanks Lads.

I'll give those a try.

I've previously tried Method 2 mahuti, however due to the line properties in these areas, this was not possible.

Cheers
