What's Dublin's problem with Taxi's? I haven't been back in years, but wasn't the Luas supposed to take care of traffic problems and allow for more taxis? All I've heard about the Luas is that it hit a pedestrian on its first day of operation. Ha!
editOh, and you're not allowed to say oriental anymore. It's asian.
Yep, the LUAS has been a disaster. In true Irish style it cost over twice as much to build 25 miles of tramline as it did for NASA to put the lander on mars (fact). People have been killed from bicycle wheels getting caught in the tracks or wheels sliding from under them (including my mates little brother, who had twin girls.) Theres always collisions which effectively bring one of the two lines to a standstill temporarily. Its a shambles.
We were originally supposed to have a metro, which would have cleared a lot of the traffic and improved the quality of commuters lives no end. But why do something sensible like that when you can build a tram system which looks nice for the tourists.
BTW the LUAS doesn't serve where I am. You would still have to get a taxi to it or when you get off it. Great fun!
Apologies to our asian friends. Still all right to call them orientals and chinese where I am though. Great race and make excellent neighbours too.
