Having problem with mamewah....
« on: February 12, 2005, 03:58:09 pm »
I have the newest version of mamewah running but I am having a difficult time generating custom lists.  I've read all the documents and searched through the message posts and cannot come up with the answer why I cannot seem to add a selected game to a custom list.  I can remove them no problem but taking a game from one list into a new empty list is causing me some frustration.  I gather from the readme file that this function is "selectable".  Can anyone point me in the right direction to fixing this problem?

Thanks,
N

Games List Options > Add Game to List .  What is the problem exactly?

I was having a problem with that function.  It wouldn't allow me to add a game to another list.  I didn't really figure it out exactly but it had something to do with how I was generating the .ini files.  I reinstalled mamewah a couple of times ... had the same problem but now it seems to be fixed.  I think that the bottom of the list of lists must be "filtered".  If it is another name like "my favorites" or something the problem seems to come back.....

I had the same problem, too, and after tinkering with the game lists it just went away.  Not sure what the issue was.  I did add a "favorites" type list and after that it started working...

MAMEWAH has a "default" list for every emulator that you can not add anything to. This gamelist is always the first one when you bring up the menu. Are you asure you weren't trying to add something to this list?

Yes.  I had added a new list called "Katherine's Favorites" (Katherine is my daughter) and tried adding games to it: no joy.  Later, I changed the default "Filtered" list to a "Favorites" list and set it to the type of list that automatically shows the most popular games, At some point after this, as I was going to delete the Katherine's Favorites list, I tried it again and it worked.  I don't know if changing Filtered to Favorites had anything to do with it, or if perhaps I just didn't have the control scheme down yet and was cancelling the Add to List rather than selecting it, but it does work now.

Hey... I just realized that something else I did between the time it didn't work and the time it did is regenerate the main list.  Do you have to regenerate the list after creating a new list?  I'll bet that's it... I'll try it again when I get home.
