Best vertical MAME version
« on: February 08, 2005, 05:53:34 pm »
What's the best MAME version for a vertical only cab?
I'm using a 1.4GHz AMD, CPU power is no problem.

Has anyone tried playing horizontal games on a vertical monitor?  How does it look?  Is Metal Slug worth playing on it?

I don't think that the particular version of mame matters for vertical. Any version can be configured to display vertically.

I have an ArcadeVGA card feeding into a 19" arcade monitor. All of the resolutions for vertical games are arcade perfect(or close). With horizontal games it has to stretch them vertically so you lose some picture quality.

If the vertical games are a 10 on picture quality, I would rate the horizontal games as a 7.

Let me know if you would like any more input.
