Mamewah 1.6 - Strange Delay Switching Emuls
« on: February 05, 2005, 01:12:44 pm »
I'm having a strange problem with Mamewah 1.6. I have two emulators installed, MAME and Super Nintendo (ZSNESW). Whenever I use the Next Emulator or Previous Emulator button to switch to the Super Nintendo layout, there is a LONG delay. About 30 seconds. First the screen goes black for about 10 seconds, then grey for about 20 seconds, then the layout finally shows up and everything is fine. There is no delay when switching to the MAME layout. I thought maybe something was wrong with my Super Nintendo layout, but there is no delay whatsoever starting up Mamewah even if Super Nintendo is the current layout.

Any ideas?

Do you have a lot of games in the SNES list?  Are  you using Win98?  If so, that is a known problem, try making your list smaller.

Thanks for the quick response. I went ahead and made a small list of favorite SNES Games. That did the trick. Now when I switch to the Super Nintendo emulator, the delay is only 2 or 3 seconds (was 30 before). And, oddly enough, now it doesn't matter whether current list is 0 (All Games) or 1 (Favorites), the delay is always 2 or 3 seconds, never 30 seconds!

Don't know if you still want bug reports, but here is a minor one. Almost a nit, I guess. If you go into Layout Designer, and open a layout, for example "SNES.LAY", make some changes, and hit Save, it should save it back to "SNES.LAY" (with an appropriate confirmation window). Right now, you must use Save As. I've hit Save a few times, and I think it does something, but I'm not sure what.

Save works OK for me...it should just save it with no prompt/confirmation.

I'm not too bothered about the Layout Designer atm, since I will have to re-write it anyway when I update the graphics/layout system...

min: what's up with your car?  :P shrinked?

Nope, it's supposed to be that small, that's why it's called a Mini (BMW should burn in hell for calling something else so big a 'Mini').
