Is my tv worth getting fixed?
« on: February 02, 2005, 08:06:17 pm »
I just got a used 25" RCA television off of my sister (no charge) to put in my cabinet I'm finishing up.  The problem is the s-video input does not work.  I called all of the local repair guys to get a ball park figure of what it might cost to repair.  They all said the same thing, $25 to look at it then they will call with an estimate.  Does anybody know about what this should cost?  Is this a repair I could attempt to make myself?  Should I be able to find something used cheaper than the cost of the repair?  I've checked the local classifieds and not found anything.  I don't have a lot of money to work with right now so I'm wondering what my options are.

I should mention that another choice I may have is to take my remove the case from my 27" tv.  Unfortunately I built my cabinet 1 1/2" to narrow for it with the case.  I don't know of the difficulty of this or how to mount it once it is off so if anybody has any guides that would be great.

i'll bet its just a busted plug--any component subjected to use (jacks and knobs) break ten times faster than anything else--i would check that before taking it in.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

This is actually the first time the s-video input has ever been used on this tv subjected to too much use.
