need help w/ marquee
« on: February 02, 2005, 05:50:09 pm »
hi

after playing my cab for a while the time has come to replace my temporary mame marquee with a custom one.  the problem is i don't have any artistic ability and the people i know who have talent work in paints and pastels instead of on a computer.  i therefore need help designing/creating a marquee for my cab.  i'm willing to pay someone for their help but am not sure what to offer (or if you are bored and feeling generous i'm more than willing to let you do it for free).

i'm thinking of calling it "burnin' time"

i was thinking of having some flames (or flaming letters) and some smoke and maybe a melting clock ala dali's persistence of memory (see below).

here's a pic of my cab as it stands (still needs tinted plexi and a couple of other finishing touches) in case you have any better ideas.

thanks

Burning text/smoke/flame like this will work ?? Of course the background will be replaced with whatever burning text you want. Check PM 8)

This is vaguely reminiscent of the images I have in my head regarding what I want on my yet-to-be-built flame/fire themed cab. May I ask where you found this image, and if the original is very high res?

I've been keeping an eye out for some higher res images of flames/fire/smoke/etc for a while now and have never come across anything that decent. If anyone has any ideas on where I could find some, please let me know.

bigle, please keep us posted on your progress on the cab. I'd love to see it with custom artwork!

Thanks,

Pyro

it turns out my sister has been learning some software at work and is willing to take a crack at designing my marquee.

the sample snaake put up was cool but i'm thinking more of a campy/cartoony 80s-ish marquee for a more retro feel.

i'll post more once she gets something of substance.
