MikeyP's CPO design
« on: January 31, 2005, 08:53:48 am »
Hi all!

Having lurked around here for a while, I'm finally gonna break my forum-phobia, and put out my CP designs for criticism! I do feel a bit cheeky though, that my first post is a request, and for that I apologise.

I drew up a couple of rough ideas in Excel (my favourite art package!

It does look familiar.  I would make the color bars the same size as the buttons.  Also, on your second one, try stopping the color bars at the red line surrounding the player controls.  It looks odd the way you have it.  Maybe if you contained it within the darker red it wouldn't look so out of place.

Hehe, sorry RayB! I was originally inspired by your design and i just never thought to say!

I loved the style of it, but I figured after all these weeks working on mine, I'd made something that was different enough to call my own...

But I'll be the first to admit I'm creatively challenged, and looking back at yours I just realised it's a little more similar than I thought! Even the topic titles are kinda the same!

Personally, I would drop the rainbow bars altogether.  I think the rest of it is nice enough to stand on its own.

Given what the rest of your cab looks like, I agree.  Those color bars are going to be out of place on a red and black cabinet, on a red and black CP.

Okay, I ditched the coloured bars as suggested, centralised the joysticks vertically, and had a go at smartening up the boxes, and came up with this... :D

This is good, but I did like the arms that reached up from the player area to the start buttons...
