Tweak UI not keeping my settings
« on: January 31, 2005, 01:10:01 am »
i'm using Tweak UI to get rid of the logon screen, but seemingly randomly it just brings the logon screen back and i go back into twaek UI and the skip logon check box is not checked.....this is starting to drive me crazy has anyone else had this problem?

Are you removing the TweakUI entries from your startup list with MSCONFIG?  That would probably cause the behaviour you mention.

Incidentally, if you're using Windows 95/98/ME, there's several ways to get rid of the logon screen...

nope i'm not doing anything to actily remove whatever tweak ui does. on the other hand i used to never get a logon screen, and then something happend i cant remember the exact thing or time and i had a logon screen...odd
and ever since i've needed tweak ui and it seems to "forget" sometimes...its very strange
and i'm on XP home atm (sp1)

For XP...

Quote
Windows XP - solution 1:

Select Run from the Start Menu, type control userpasswords2, and click Ok.
Turn off the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and click Ok.

Windows XP - solution 2:

If you have one user account and no password configured, Windows XP will log you in automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to do the following:

Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI.
Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your username and password, and click Ok.

problem fixed....dont know how exactly but i seemed to have some bizzare "invisible" user account which i deleted then to be doubly sure i added a PW to my account and fed all that into tweak ui and so far its been working fine :)
