Background image for Mamewah
« on: January 30, 2005, 09:44:46 pm »
Hi,
I have been trying my first install of Mamewah, and running into a problem.  I only have one emulator at the time, Mame command line.  I have been able get Mamewah to work, loads games and plays.  I have also been able to get layout to work, and it inserts the artwork fine...just can't figure out how to get the background?
If there is any other info you need to help, let me know.
As always thanks :)

Have a read of \docs\layouts.txt - I bet you just need to move and/or rename your background image.

Yes, read docs, searched BYOC, googled for hours... ???
And yes, I think something needs renamed\moved\etc.  but I haven't had any luck.

Do you know do I have to add "backgrounds" to an ini, or does it go on the same line as layout?
I think that I am close, that is part of why it is so frustrating. I have also added Arcade Jukebox as well, hoping to have better luck...but same situation, it is using my "Layout.lay" file, but not the background that I want.
Any other ideas, would be great.
Also any suggestions on what other emulators set up easy?  Or are the all going to be the same?
Thanks all :)

Well, have you added the background image to your layout using the layout designer? I'm not really sure if that step is necessary or not, it may just require a proper name. Let's say your layout file is named "mame.lay" then your background image needs to be "mame-main.jpg"

I've had luck placing a file named main.jpg in the same directory as the layout.lay file and it seems to work.

I know my docs are pretty crap but this is covered in layouts.txt:

Backgound Images:

emuname-?-main.xxx   emulator & custom list specific main backgound image
emuname-main.xxx   emulator specific main backgound image
main.xxx      general layout main backgound image
