Windows Mame bootable from disk
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:22:00 am »
I found a site
Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD

This takes your current windows install and makes a bootable live windows environment with plug in support.  Used to fix computers or to test stuff.  Now I know nothing about making a plugin or how it would work, even though he has instructins on how to do it.  I was wondering if this could be used to make a bootable windows mame disk?

I leave it to you software guys to deem this valuable or not.

although i haven't taken the time to read the entire page i am familiar with a good deal of barts bootable floppies/Cd's and from a tech stand point they are life savers ( i have a barts CD i created that boots into either ghost , partition magic , plain dos , autodect network card and boot , their is also an admin password reset option on my CD ) but they do in fact take a good deal of knowledge for some of the more advanced stuff.

by reputation i would take the leap and say this is a solid way to boot a system ( I'm basing this off past barts bootables ) .... now making it Mame bootable would take a bit of work , but i believe it could be done.

I'll bet you already know, but there is a Linux CD bootable version of AdvanceMAME:

I don't believe the BartPE can use gfx drivers apart from the vga driver it comes with - so no fancy modes/directX installed.... so I don't think (windows) mame would work - but I could be wrong.....
