PC Arcade Monitor from Happ Controls

Here's the question I was trying to raise, but can't see anything on the site that answers it...

http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/491337vp.htm is the direct link to the 19 inch monitor in question.

Now it connects directly to a standard monitor port (15 pin d-sub)... and plugs in via a 3 prong US cord. What it doesn't say is if it would readily accept a degaussing setup? Also, how good is it for a custom upright cabinet? Or is horizontal-mount meaning it's for a cocktail cabinet? My understanding is that this is a standard 19" PC CRT PC monitor minus the case. Am I wrong in thinking that?

This is indeed a standard horizontal (a.k.a. "shelf") mount. In other words it sits on a shelf in a standard upright game cabinet. There are shown mounting "ears" on it if you wanted to drop it thru a cutout hole like say in a table game. All commercial arcade monitors like this have a builtin degaussing coil wrapped around the picture tube frame. It just simply isn't drawn in these pictures.

Even if it doesn't specifically state that it has a degaussing setup, it's got one? Cool. Definitely nice. I'm going to have to order this, then, along with the other things I'm getting. Well worth it, I'm guessing, for a first cabinet?

Is there any advantage to this monitor over a PC 19" (or 21" w/ 19" viewable) monitor?

The advantage I'm seeing over the PC monitor is that I won't have to remove the casing, go through a dangerous discharge, build a mount, and then finally mount it onto the cabinet.

Gotcha.  I was just curious

Just to clarify: those are not open frame pc monitors.  They do not have a fine dot pitch and flatter screen that pc monitors do.  The disadvantage is that you are limited to 800x600, and windows (if you're using it) won't look all that great.  The advantage is that raster games really have that authentic feel even though you can't run them in their native resolution and the curve of the tube fits the happs bezel.  (and of course they are easier to mount)
