MVS Cocktail?
« on: January 12, 2005, 10:41:29 pm »
I'm thinking about building a Neo geo cocktail cabinet similar to joust side by side seating style but with MVS styling, so is this a sin  :-X or a good idea as I want a cock tail cabinet and a neo geo, and as I have very little space for any more machines, why not have both in one? what do you think?

Fantanstic Idea, I always thought that the Joust style cocktail could be modified for a two player setup. Is this a mame version or are you going to use Carts? or both?

Joust already is 2 player, but yeah a full 4 or 6 slot mvs board + usual Jamma set up, if you imagine a joust cocktail (home made of course) painted in red and black, neo geo style , I think it might look ok, as well as Ive never heard of another one, bit of an original concept.

Cocktails are a real space hog though, if saving space is your goal then look for something else. A Joust cocktail installation eats 21 square feet (with chairs), which isn't as bad as it CAN get, but is still pretty bad considering an upright one eats less than 9 square feet including standing room.

Could be worse though, a Moon Patrol cocktail installation eats 31.5 square feet with chairs and walk around space.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

If it's a space thing then this (below) is one of the best ways to go. As Paige said, cocktails are space hogs.

Space issue aside, I think it sounds like a great idea.

Joust already is 2 player

yeah, i meant a two player setup with the standard SF setup (guess I should have said that huh?)

Regardless, still a cool idea.

Thanks for your input guys, I never thought of the thing taking up that much space, but I already have a 3 uprights and a cocktail really completes an arcade no? so Ill try and squeeze it in, regardless Ive still got a half built Mame to finish first, so I'm at least 6 months away from starting!

Actually, a pin really completes an arcade... I've seen very very few arcades with cocktails.  Bars usually had them.
