Question about a dying monitor
« on: January 10, 2005, 02:35:11 pm »
A friend of a friend has a galaxian game which the monitor is dying.

After a bit... the screen shrinks down I hear.  Is this fixable (or is this enought description?)

Hes looking for a buyer and I'm wondering if its repairable or should be sold asif without a monitor.

Thanks..  (sorry about the lack of description... I would go farther into detail if I had more info)

Probably repairable. You should include the monitor anyway in the sale of the machine regardless of whether it works or not IMO.

The solution is pretty much always to do a cap kit... that fixes 90% of problems if the monitor is working.  After that, you've got some transistors, maybe a potentiometer or two... these monitors aren't hard to fix once you've done a couple.
