The speakers are located between the monitor and the Marquee beneath a metal grill that goes all the way across. Quite clean looking accually. I dont think I will be putting any speakers up there. Maybe a flat Lcd screen to shoot thru all of the marquees of the selected game that is playing would be super nice but that would be a little bit past my knowledge.
As for the history of the cabinet I found it in the local newspaper. They had 3 for sale for $450 bucks. I bought this one for $88 bucks with everything working. It just looked like a good cabinet that could be converted. It had a game called Numan Athletics in it. Not that fun of a game.
The cab was in great shape, the monitor works fine. No Dings or scratches. The sides (Which didnt show up good in my pictures) are covered in a counter top material (Formica?). Very slick looking and scratch resistant. I made the custom control panel by borrowing ideas from this sites Examples pages. I also bought new T-moulding for it (it had this bright green T-moulding. Yuck) and wired it all up to an old computer that I had.
I think I came out with a lucky, cost friendly find. The only extra money I spent was for the controls, T-moulding, plexi, and black laminate for the control panel.
