Mamewah options Menu
« on: January 04, 2005, 09:24:04 pm »
O, I'm sorry if this gets asked alot, but I've really looked everywhere I can think of for the answer.

Mamewah is really new to me so here's my best explanation.

I hit '2' to get the mamewah options menu, and select the Games List options.

Isn't that where I should be able to set the options such as clones on/off, etc??

The only thing it comes up with are Add game, Remove Game, and Generate list...

I looked at the tutorial on the screenshots website and it showed a much larger list of options.  I think I just missed something somewhere.  Thanks.

I believe that tutorial is for version 0.97. Things are way different now. First, you can't filter the main list. You need to create custom lists. This is a tutorial on the downloads page at my website, http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer

Good Luck,
John

Right, I thought that was where you created custom lists???

Yes, but you need to select a list other than the main one (the main list is configured using emuname-0.ini).  In order to select another list you must have emuname-1.ini present (emuname-2.ini, emuname-3.ini etc. if you want even more lists).

The 'Generate Filtered List...' option will only appear once you have selected a different list.

Ok, right I figured that out, but I'm still missing something.

I can select different lists, but how do I make list 'mame-2.ini' different from 'mame-1.ini' ?

I can set up a new list but I guess I don't understand how to filter it differently then the others.

Thanks again!

Not sure what you mean...once you have selected the different list just apply different filters in the Games List Options > Generate Filtered List... menu.

Is there supposed to be a sub-menu when you select Generate Filtered List?

If so, that must be the problem.  If I select generate filtered list.  It does the same thing as generate list does on the main games list.  It does not bring up any menu though.  It just populates the current list.

I'll take another look at it when I get home.  thanks again!

Are you using version 1.52, and if so, is it the fixed version or the original?

I ran into the same problem, but didn't realize it for awhile because it was my first time using MameWah.  I just figured I hadn't configured something correctly until I did some more research.  There was a bug in the original 1.52 that prevented you from creating new filtered lists with options (no menu).  All you could do was re-generate the list based on the settings in the lists .ini file.

You can grab the 1.52 fix on the mameworld forums.  It's in a sticky thread in the MameWah section.

I installed 1.6 over 1.52.  I didn't install the fix though, I thought that would be included in 1.6.

I'll try the fix or just remove/re-install Mamewah tonight and see what happens.  Thanks!

Ok, I got it to work!

I removed and reinstalled 1.52 + the fix.  I had done that before with no luck, but this time I also deleted everything that was left behind in the \mamewah\files directory.

Now I've got all the options!  Cool, thanks for your help!
