S-video and screen wiggle!

Hello,

I just hooked my vid-out from my GF4TI4600 to my new 27" tv and there is a lot of noticable screen "wiggle".  Doesn't do it during games, but in Windows the desktop seems to wiggle around alot.  I am using WinXP for now...but will be building a Win98 system for the cab.  Anyone know a solution to this problem.    Please fill me in.

Is your resolution set above 800x600?  If that is the case then you have the resolution set higher than the TV can handle and your video card is doing some pixel "smushing".  Try a lower resolution in windows.  I think that actual TV resolution is closer to 640x480.

Funny thing is that I just noticed that it only does this when my res IS set to 640x480.  I think it may have something to do with XP not liking resolutions that low.  Everything is fine when I have it at 800x600....but that isn't what I want.  Too much strain on my eyes...argg

The geforce4 says it supports up to 1024 X 768 with s-video out, but it looks terrible. 800 X 600 looks much better. Anything lower under XP makes for a hard time finding what you want.

With nVidia cards within Windows there is a small setting that can reduce the flicker and wiggle that comes with TV-Out.

Step 1. - Go To Display Properties
Step 2. - Click the Settings Tab
Step 3. - Click the Advanced Button
Step 4. - Click the nView Tab
Step 5. - You'll see a pull down menu box listing the types of displays hooked up to the video card. You'll want to select your tv. After you've selected the TV, click Device Settings and the select Screen Adjustment from the menu.  In the window that pops up, towards the bottom there is a slider that is called Flicker Control.  Move it all the way to the right.

This should atleast help the problem, it did for me anyway.

For some reason I don't have that option.  I just installed the latest drivers...what version are you running?  When I goto my Screen Adjustment all I can do it more the screen around.  No slider or anything.  Any other suggestions?

Well I guess this isn't that big of a deal since I've decided to get an ATI card to throw in my dedicated mame machine.  Thanks for the help anyway.
