Display size smaller with new video card/driver
« on: December 29, 2004, 11:56:13 pm »
Installed my fancy new Radeon 9200 in XP.  When XP was driving the monitor (before I installed the driver) the picture filled the screen.  After the driver I have a unused black box around the displayed picture. I tried adjusting the resolution and the "size" in the Advanced tab of the display driver but it still doesn't fit the screen fully.  I even updated the driver using the newest from the ATI site (which included rotation, cool), but to no avail.  Any ideas?

Is it possible to adjust the size on your monitor? When i installed my 9200 I had the same problem and had to manually adjust the monitor.

Thanks for the response.  I'll have to try that again.  I did that once before but found that the picture became fuzzy when I adjusted the size manually.  I just wonder why the difference between the default windows driver and the ATI one.

Figured it out.  In 16 bit color the screen is full sized.  Apparently this monitor can't handle 32 bit color in the full screen mode.
