3d arcade cabinet request
« on: October 09, 2002, 12:37:40 pm »
I would really be interested in seeing a generic Midway cabinet. The ones I'm talking about come in 2 styles: one with a tapered front for a 2-coin door (MK)and then a larger flat front for a wide 2-coin door with bill acceptor option or 4-coin door (KI, NBA Jam, Blitz).

Games like the MK series, Killer Instinct, NBA Jam, etc use these cabinets. They're very popular for 4-player games. In fact, TONS of games use these cabinets. Lots of newer unemulated games use these machines, too, but they've been around for at least a decade or so. I think that Tekken series also use these machines. I want to get some cabs for my non-mame emulated arcade games!!! :)

If we could get a generic cabinet out, that would really help for newer games that are currently supported. Then we could start modifying to add artwork so we could get some cabinets for some really awesome games out there like KI (my favorite).

What do yall think???

I'm already working on it.... They are all loosely based on the konami 4 player cabinet (tmnt) which I am 90% finished with.  Upon the inital release I will have a tmnt, tmnt2 and simpsons cab ready.  Then I will convert and release ki,ki2.  Then I will convert it again to make the mk series.

As for nba jam, although I could do it don't hold your breath as those cabs are too tacky and ugly for my tastes. ;)

Since I'm already on a requesting role here, I've got another EASY one for you...

My MAME machine is actually going to be that generic Data East cabinet you've got up on the 3d arcade site. However, mine is gonna have black sides with red t-molding and the joystick configuration will be from Bad Dudes.

(2 joysticks with 2 buttons on either side for righties and lefties with start buttons front and center)

Can you do it? I'd do it myself except I have no 3d software.  :'( Otherwise it's not a big deal. Those Midway cabinets are much prettier anyways. I don't want to overload you here... If there are any contributions I can make just tell me.

Oh yeah... and I painted the coin door red.  ;D (it's purdy)
