25" Wells Gardner repair help
« on: December 29, 2004, 02:39:15 am »
Hey, I've got a 25" wells gardner monitor from an old TMNT machine that I have been working on.  Not too long ago a poorly attached speaker inside the arcade fell off and disconnected/broke the neck board at the pin connector.  I tried just plugging it back in (though i may have done it incorrectly) but i don't get any picture on the screen.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Ummm...... if you haven't repaired the broken neck board then you won't get a picture!

Are you sure only the neckboard was damaged and not the neck of the picture tube itself?

You can call the parts department at Wells-Gardner and order a new neckboard.

While we're on the topic... I have a Hantarex that I got to mess around with, unknown working order, that has a snapped neckboard.  I haven't really looked at the PCB yet... how hard are these to jump so it works again, usually?  I'm still fairly new but am learning at a lightning pace...

Most neckboards (depending on the severity of the damage) are fairly easy to repair provided it's clean and you do a good job of glueing the broken section thus strengthening it.

I'll take a look at this one and see... I was actually thinking of using some small plastic or wood strips around the edges to hold the halves in place, rather than just gluing the crack.  Or is that silly?

I use epoxy glue to fill in the crack and hold the broken parts together.
