Mamewah Screensaver eventually blanks
« on: December 26, 2004, 04:54:05 am »
I'm perplexed... the default screensaver will activate after a couple minutes of inactivity in Mamewah without an issue. After a couple of minutes during the screensaver it will eventually just blank out with no image at all. It reminds me of power management in windows, where you can set the screensaver to turn off your monitor after so many minutes. How do I keep the screensaver to keep working and not eventually blank out?

Maybe you do have Windows power saving switched on!?

Yeah, that was it.

I have another question for you... I've noticed that at some resolutions, when you start a ROM it keeps the same resolution as the layout.lay file (ex. classic 640 x 480), even if I have the resolution set differently in the ini folder in Mame. The thing is, this doesn't happen when I use Mame outside of the Mamewah front end. I'm using a regular TV currently and a Radeon 9200. What should I do to use the resolution that I designated in the ini folder with Mamewah?

Make sure your 'mame.ini' is named according to your mame .exe file, and points to your inipath.  If your INI resolution setting isn't being used then either your mame.ini isn't being read, or your game-specific ini's aren't being read.

Thanks for your reply! I have Mamewah pointed to the correct Mame execuatable in Mame.ini

emulator_executable                       C:\Games\Mame\mamep4.exe

I haven't found an option in the Mame.ini file that points Mamewah to the INI folder in Mame. That's probably handled by Mame itself though right? Anyhow, I'm getting an ArcadeVGA card this week and an Arcade Monitor D9200 soon, so perhaps this issue will clear up once those items have been installed.

I really appreciate your hardwork and dedication to making the best Mame frontend. I also thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!

I think I may have confused things a little...by mame.ini I meant MAME's mame.ini file, although for mamep4.exe this should be called mamep4.ini - if you do not have this file run 'mamep4 -cc' from a commandline to generate it.  You can then edit mamep4.ini and set 'inipath' accordingly.
