Hantarex newbie still having issues
« on: December 23, 2004, 08:47:12 am »
I've replaced my Hantarex MTC 900 ( which had a broken picture tube ), with a Hantarex MTC 9000.

I'm sure the Hantarex MTC 9000 works, it has been tested where it came from.

When connecting the "6 pin" power connector from the power supply to the chassis and power up, I don't see any activity ( now glow from the tube neck either )

The first "test messuring point" on the chassis seems to indicate that the voltage is too low

If someone could answer any of these questions:

- If no game is connected, should the monitor start up ?
- What else can I messure, test to pinpoint the problem ?
- Do I have a bad power supply ?

Sorry for the "simple" questions. I realy am a newbie.

Um....the power connector is the black power cord with a two pin Molex connector on it and it comes from the isolation transformer in the bottom of the cabinet. The 6 pin white flat wafer connector is the video signal/sync connector from the gameboard.

Thanks for the reply Ken.

Attached is a picture of a MTC 9000 chassis.

In my setup, I can't find a two pin connector. On the picture you can see two connectors. I marked the 4 pin connector in red and the 8? pin connector ( which is connected to the adjustment 'buttons' ) in green.

Where do I find the power connector then ?

I'm realy confused

I just recapped an MTC9000 a couple of nights ago. It looks slightly different than yours so I suspect that you either have an early production unit or one that is configured for some option.

The green circled connector is where the remote adjustment board plugs in. This board MUST be connected at all times the monitor is powered up or the monitor will be damaged!

The red circled connector is the video/sync input connector from the gameboard.

AC power from the isolation transformer in the game cabinet should go to a connector underneath that giant sand colored resistor on the far right of the chassis. I don't have the 9000 manual or a chassis in front of me. You can download the manual at mikesarcade.com on his monitor manuals page.

I just figured it out. There really is a 4 pins power supply connector and when it's connect to the red circled interface it's working.

The problem was that there are 2 similar 4 pins connectors in the cabinet and all cables are bundled together.

Previously I indeed connected an adjustment board connector to this interface.
( = one of the two 4 pins connectors -  which apparently comes with the MTC 900 monitor that was in the cabinet before this monitor )

When I now connect the correct 4pins connector and power up, I can hear the monitor and see the glow in the neck of the tube.

Thanks for the help!
