Yes

Ditto, although I'll add that I refuse to play with folks who rarely have money.  They take things far too hard, and if I offer an IOU, it's my fault for fronting the deadbeat the money.

Why do you think "bad players" are automatically "idiots" man? If I am real good at Mortal Kombat, and you kinda suck, it doesnt mean your an idiot. That's just rude.

Now I see why everyone has a beef with your attitude.   ::)

That's rather stranger logic.  I don't have a job therefore I get sick of bad players?  That's like saying "I don't like cheese so I'm going to play Tetris".

But I play poker, basically for cheap pots (quarters to dollars) and I have no problem with bad players.  The worse they are the more I can exploit them (all's fair in the game).

What I do hate is bad blackjack players.  For example, I sat next to a woman who kept splitting 10's (NEVER split a 20!) when I had 11 and was already poised to double down.  It wasn't for real money so I wasn't all that upset but winning went towards door prizes.  I have seen it in real situations though and people get downright ugly.

Now that's just plain ridiculous! My wife loves both cheese and Tetris. Sometimes I see her playing Tetris, while sampling fine cheeses at the same time!  :o

i love texas holdem.  i play quite often with some of my friends.  we play $5 buy in, with about 8 people, so its a decent pot at the end and no one goes broke.  oh and the coolest thing is i bought an official world poker tour shirt at Champs sports (the store in the mall) thats orange and in big blue letters it says "NUTS" on the front with the caption underneath it reading "noun: the best possible hand in poker"

Not having a job = getting sick of stupid players is simple.

When you don't have a job you can play texas hold em on yahoo games 14 hours a day and sleep 10 hours a day. When this is your life you tend to get frustrated with the other players.

On an aside. I don't know how ANYONE can sit a through an online game of hold em, it takes an eternity to play one hand. Longer than real life even.

some one at work yesterday was telling me about the PS2 version. I may have to go to Best Buy and see if a PC version is made.

I'm up for an online BYOAC game:

Not precisely but close. Playing poker on yahoo is so bad.. or anywhere for "Free money".. even I play like a bad player cuz it doesn't matter.

On an aside. I don't know how ANYONE can sit a through an online game of hold em, it takes an eternity to play one hand. Longer than real life even.

No it's usually much quicker than a real life hand, especially with all the old people and shuffling. Oh and the cigarette smoke I hate the smoke.

Online tx holdem is usually pretty quick, but if it isn't and I get bored I usually open another table and play 2 at a time. I've played up to 4 at a time.

Last night though I played no limit hold em online seriously for the first time with real money (before I had played plenty of tournaments and just limit real money poker) and it was sweet, I went from $30 to $130 in one hand.. cashed out right away though

I've been gone for a while.  I didn't realize there was a 'newer, angrier' Floyd.

But off of that:  anyone here play Guts?  Fun game and it could turn a cheap pot into a windfall or a nightmare!  Here's the gist: everyone is dealt three cards.  Then, at the same time (usually done by a three count), everyone has to either stay in or fold.  Those who stay in are dealt an additional two cards (one after the other) in order of deal.  There's no betting, so the cards are usually revealed before the final deal.  Whoever has the highest hand wins the pot.  The losers have to match the pot (i.e. if there's $5 in the pot, each losing player puts $5 back in, and so forth).  Another hand is dealt until only one player stays in (usually the one facing the risk of having to match a large pot).  At that point he/she plays "the house".  He/she is deal two cards and then five cards, that represent the house, are dealt.  If the player wins, the pot is taken and the hand is over.  If the house wins, the pot has to be matched and play continues.

Yeah... sounds complicated but it's rather fun.  Sorry if my explanation is shakey.  English not so good language at.

Usually we play with 2's and 3's wild to keep people in more often.

Usually we play with 2's and 3's wild to keep people in more often.

We play 2 cards only, highest wins.  We switch it out with several different types of poker, Texas Hold 'Em, Stock Market, Hi / Lo, or strait up with each person getting to pick a wild card.  We usually have wild swings of the pot, so we start high (usually about 30 bucks to get in), but it's a good night - we've only had one guy out of cash after 4 hours of playing, so it works for us.

Stock Market - start off by dealing out 7 cards, pay to get in on the trading if you wish, "market" opens with you offering to trade x number of cards.  If someone else agrees to trade with you, they must trade the exact same number of cards.  After a certain time, you'll realize there's no use trading anymore, and the market ends.  Everybody discards 2.  If you wish to do some "after market hours" trading, pay whatever amount you set before the game starts (we play a buck) for each card dealt from the deck, discard to get five, bet 'em up.  High hand obviously wins.

Hi / Lo - 5 card stud face up, ante in, bet after each card is turned over.  Highest hand and lowest hand split the pot after all five are turned over.
