I know the title may be a redundant statement but what happened yesterday was ridiculous. Let me start by saying that I put myself through college working at Wal-mart so I have a high tolerance for the mouth breathing, brain flatlining  people who work there. I went to the hardware department to get a pint of flat black interior latex paint. You would have thought I asked for the secret to cold fusion. They could not find a code for it so they could not mix BLACK paint. They could only mix colors that were on the sample strips. I do not want "dark pine" or "burnt earth" I just want black. So I left the store empty handed. Luckily there was a Lowes not to far away who were able to mix this unheard of color.

very retarded indeed. black IS a base colour for mixing, so what's to mix? go to the shelf, 'ah, black paint!' and off you go...

i dont know how walmart is setup where you are , but i've seen places where their are no paint jars , just the mixing machine , they put the color code ( my guess , black is like code 000000 or 999999 or ffffff concidering it's a r/b/g format ) and it spits out 1 gal of that color.

They've got tints that they pull a lever/push a knob to a certain point, then move it in the opposite direction to dispense the tint into the gallon to be tinted. 

This was something they could have easily done if you'd have gotten someone who had some initiative to offer to "give it a shot" for you....at least you'd have left appreciating the attempt to help ya, instead of getting a "Cletus the slack-jawed yokel" gaze.

i still dont geddit? BLACK is a base colour in paint. there is also a gold base for very heavy yellow colours. you can't take a light colour base and then add a black tint to it to become black. there should just be black paint on the shelf...

I'm gonna hafta side with Danny on this one.  The best your going to get trying to make black is a dark gray.  If you want black it's going to have to come from the manufacturer that way.

Don't go to walmart for paint either.  Go to Sherwin Williams or at the very least home depot!
