But the problem is, I dont know which tutorial to begin with. There is no START point that I can see. Im assuming I want to install EVO-X right? The Tuts keep saying burn the evo-x iso, blah blah blah, I have the latests version, but its in .rar format, with a bios, and skins folder, and a few other files in there. This is where Im stuck. Do I just rename the .rar file to ISO? Or do I just extract the BIOS folder out of it, and burn that or what. There are a bazillion different tutorials out there, but I dont know WHICH ones I need to start with. Could some one just PM me with a little help please?  ???

read the tutorial about making a bios disc and evo-x disc.  They are all there... just get to reading :)

Or download Slayer's EvoX auto-installer to get the box up and running and then install whatever dashboard you want to use.  EvoX is fine, but there are better ones out there IMHO.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

Thanks Point, one more question. Should I flash my bios with EVOX? Or with the latest X3 bios? What are the ups, and downs of both?

why is it that you can't do any reasearch for yourself?  Both dashboards have multiple places that have very detailed information on what they can and can't do.  Matter of fact, if I wanted to, I could list 3 places that have direct comparisons of all the major dashboards!  Of course I'm not going to tell you because that would defeat the purpose of this very reply so I guess you're going to have to stop being so damn lazy and LOOK ARROUND!

There are message boards that are dedicated to the xbox ya know...

the flashbios supplied on a new x3 modchip just has functionality to flash a bios to it. you need to get the latest hacked X3 bios and flash it to the modchip. due to legality issues it is not simply matter of downloading it from website.

there is tutorial on http://www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/

it states in it "FlashBIOS is a utility to update your modchip with any other bios. You cannot play games or run unsigned software with this bios. If

No and even if I did. I can easily turn off the chip, and throw my original HDD back in. So no worries, there are plenty of ways around that. :)

Thanks for the help guys. Ive flashed to the latest X3 bios, threw in a bigger HDD, installed the latest EVOX, and have started backing up my games. I put Quake2x on there and played it too. But then I changed the Resolution and all I get is a black screen now. I delted all my saved games, configs, Everything, and now it wont work anymore. Just a black screen. :(

May I ask how you flashed your bios?  I am installing an X3 but I am still confused on how I am going to install the new bios I have (I have them downloaded but dont know how to use them).. same thing with evox (i have it downloaded but its in a rar and I don't know how to use it) and finally, I have a 120 gig hard drive and don't know how to install it.

Hopefully, you will help me.

I just put a 250 GB hard drive in my xbox cos I had filled up the 120 I put in there when I first installed my mod chip.  I found a program made by Avalaunch called Net Prepare.  OMG what a great program.  I just created a shared folder on my PC hard drive and then FTP'd to the Xbox and copied the C:\ , E:\ and F:\ folders from my Xbox into that shareed folder on my PC.  Then I put the new 250 GB drive into my xbox and put Net Prepare on a disk, pointed it to that shared folder on my PC and BAM, it set it all up.  Everything works exactly as before (including all my game saves which are still in tact), except now I've got 130 GB free space.

I would have done that with a friend of mine's hdd upgrade but neither of us had a spare 80 gigs on our computer. We tried the xbox to xbox copy which took a LONG time. We could only get about 5-7mbps speed. I let it go over night and most of the next day. How fast was your 120 gig copied? Just curious.

Hmm...Pretty fast.  I'd say a couple or three hours.  I guess having the free space is probably a limitation most people would run into.  I've got a lot more than most people in terms of storage space on my computer.

The funny thing is, there are some Hard Disk tools built into the SmartXX OS and one of them is a utility that will make an exact duplicate of your hard drive, bit by bit (you plug the second hard drive in place of the DVD-Rom).  I started doing that but it takes FOREVER.  So after I got this all done I decided to upgrade to the newest version of the SmartXX OS.  When I did I noticed that they had added a feature to the HDD tools called "HDD Quick Copy" or "Fast Copy" or something.  Makes me wish I had checked that out when I was in the market.

Wow, that would be nice. I bet that would be a lot faster and you would only need 1 xbox and no network. I haven't been through the x3 bios much. I wonder if there is something like that in there. Never thought of hooking 2 hard drives and no dvd drive. Oh well, it's done now.
