Excellent baseball simulation
« on: December 16, 2004, 05:14:49 pm »
I saw the note for Kingdom of Loathing web-based game, and thought I'd take a moment to plug one of my favorite sites: SimDynasty (http://www.simdynasty.com).

SimDynasty is an online baseball simulation; all players are generated by the game, and you draft teams, set up lineups and strategies, and the games are simulated three times a day.

The rules are an amalgam of all eras.  The 50's are picked as a starting point because the game's creator thought of that era as the "golden age" of baseball, and the leagues were a manageable size.  The leagues have been fashioned after the way baseball stood between 1955-1957, just before the Dodgers and Giants moved west. There is no DH in either league, and players cannot file for free agency.  There are no salaries or salary caps to manage.  However, there is a 162-game schedule instead of a 156-game schedule, a 5-man rotation instead of a 4-man, and there are indeed playoffs (although not divisional play), with the top two teams from each league competing in the LCS.

More info on the game is in the Rulebook at http://www.simdynasty.com/rulebook.jsp, and a tour is at http://www.simdynasty.com/tour.jsp.
