MVS Cab
« on: December 14, 2004, 08:22:44 pm »
Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to win an auction a mint condition NeoGeo machine complete with Fatal Fury 2 fully working.

Now I already have a cab which I'll be selling so I'm no noob when it comes to fitting out for mame. But I was wondering if there is anything I should know or keep in mind when converting this for Mame. For my old cab I just unplugged the Jamma harness and interfaced with an ArcadeVGA and Minipac. Will this one be the same and what about sound?

Any help or pointers appreciated.

Cheers,

Brad

Is it a dedicated cab our a conversion? I ask so i can have some more info to answer you on what you could possibly do with it.

I have a MVS-1-25 with Metal Slug, Its my pride and joy.

Well it appears to be a dedicated cab. Maybe not Fatal Fury 2 but certainly a dedicated NeoGeo cab. It's in awesome condition and got the instructions and marquee.

Cheers,

Brad

Cool, good score then.

Here is a good site with lots of info on everything MVS
http://www.hardmvs.com/

I take it you are in the UK? I see that there dedicated cabs are much different than the States. Take a look at the photos and then click on Europe/UK and tell me if you see your cab in there.

Im planning on adding a jpac and the full new geo library on mine specifically. I am keeping everything original, no splices our nuttin.

Actually I'm in Australia and those 2 pictures on the front page do not match my cab except the cab on right. The top half is identical to mine except my cab is on more of a pedestal base.

I had a look at photos and again no match with the Pacific one being the closest. Thing is in Australia LAI made almost all of our cabs.

It would also appear that mine is either the MV-1 or MV-1F model due to the extra board features. The sound is good.

Oh in that case very good score then, I hear that in Australlia its pretty scarce and expensive when it comes to suitable mame cabs and parts. I like the looks of those LAI cabs, their pretty cool.

Have fun with it man, dont forget to post some pics in the project announcements when you get it going.

This topic has gotten me thinking of this one particular guy from australlia that had several awesome lowboys.

Check this thread out and read what he was up to and halfway on the first page he shows a show of his 19XX collection. Very cool stuff, lots of style.

Yeah arcade cabs and parts here are a bloody rip off. I've been dead lucky at an auction 12 months ago and now this one. My first cab is actually a coverted Space Ace. No I didn't convert it, an operator did and by the time I got it had a Violence Fight in it  :shudder:

I got it real cheap as the marquee is an original Bio Attack which is an unbelievably crappy game. It was sold as a bio attack and I snagged for $80.00!!

My new NeoGeo cost me $300.00 but thats a steal compared to Ebay.

BTW that site you linked has been a wealth of information. I have an MV-1F board it seems too.

When I read the topic of this post, I thought someone had actually gotten MAME to run on a mainframe somehow.  I was about to be *very* impressed.

Thanks for the link. I'm very seriously looking at a local 2 slot MVS for sale for $200. Seems like a pretty good deal to me, and I've always wanted a Neo Geo system. I've already got a MAME cab so this will stay an MVS if I do end up buying it.
