Need Software Recommendation
« on: December 14, 2004, 07:30:47 pm »
I am looking for software that will do the following (I guess it would be called a front-end):

-When PC boots it would give an option screen to choose - mame, pinmame, console emulators, or just go to windows.
-I will be running windows XP, Mame32

I would like something to make it be 'not so windows' looking unless I tell it to go to windows.
Why is it when we talk to God we are praying, but when God talks to us we are put into the loony bin?

Also, I assume you meant MAME not MAME32 as MAME32 is a frontend.

I want to be able to choose to go into windows if I want otherwise I don't want to see it. I want to have a 'choice' screen at boot-up. Listing mame-windows-anyconsoleemu-pinmame, so I can choose where I want to go.

In old versions of windows you could set up config.sys / autoexec.bat to do what you are describing. Don't know about XP. What version of Windows are you running?
I have changed my nickname to "Cakemeister". Please do not PM the Buddabing account because I do not check it anymore.

Please read the wiki!

In XP you could set up multiple users and go that route.

Example: User A = load into MAMEWAH or another FE, User B = regular XP no FE configured in registry or startup shortcuts.

Other than that you might be able to find a command line argument that passes a user acct in a boot manager like acronis, system commander, boot magic, etc...

Good Luck

and dont forget about the active desktops.  Write HTML and I hear you can do what your asking.

There are also frontend frontends out there that do that.

But an all - in - one frontend that handles multiple emulators and applications is probably best.
