I copied 3 avi movies, 7 files on a dvd and I'm not able to see the files from either, the xbox media center and the Xbox file manager. I know the xbox see's the dvd cause it show's the dvd name (MOvies). I use to watch avi movies from cd's but since I can have more than one movies on a dvd, I'd prefer to copy all my new movies on dvd. And then whatching them from the dvd or to copy all the files from the dvd to the xbox hd.
Is there a way to watch a avi movie from a dvd on my xbox??
OK, this has zip to do with arcade controls, so you're in the wrong forum - you would probably have more joy asking these questions at somewhere appropriate like the web forums on
http://www.xboxmediacenter.de or
http://www.xbox-scene.comHaving said that, I'll try to answer anyway.
You say you can't see the files from the XBox file manager (not sure what this is since it doesn't have a file manager - I guess you're talking about some third party utility or the file browsing features of your dashboard). If you can't see the files in the d: directory (which is the DVD drive) when you FTP to your XBox from a PC (using the FTP server built into XBMC or Evox or whatever) then it isn't recognising the disk. This may mean you've burnt it incorrectly (go read the above websites for people's recommendations for what settings to use), or more likely it means you have a craptastic make of DVD drive in your XBox - they've shipped with 3 different brands of drive which aren't all as good at reading burned DVDs/CDs instead of pressed silver discs - Thompson (won't read squat), Philips (picky about media) and Samsung (will read pretty much anything). If it just won't recognise anything, you could take your drive to bits and tweak the pots to bump up the output of the laser a bit - again, check the above sites.
You might also try upgrading to the latest XBMC - if you have a really old version installed from a Slayer's disc or something, it won't have as great support for different ISO9660 DVDs and stuff.
If all else fails, you could always stick the DVD in a PC and watch it in XBMC over a network.
