Can't Read Mame Game List
« on: December 12, 2004, 02:58:27 am »
Hey guys-
Running Radeon 7000 on XP Home, Mame Analog +, 800x600 resolution, and here's the kicker- COMPOSITE input!

So- yes, running composite- well, S-Video to RCA connector on my older tv. When playing actual mame games, it all runs great- I can read scores, text on screen, etc.  BUT- While in the Mame menu itself- I can't read a dang thing! I have no idea what game it's on, etc. So, I have another post out right now on lowering my resolution to 640x480 (my radeon 7000 won't allow me to go that low!)- but- other than that- what can I do to make the Mame front end be able to be readable? Obviously buying a new tv and going to S-Video would help. But, is there anything else I can do to be able to read which games I am selecting?  Do I need a new front end (I'm just using the one that came with Mame32).

Like I said- once I'm playing the games, I pretty much can see what's going on well enough to play them pretty good. It's the front end that is just HORRIBLE- not to mention the windows text as well.  What do you guys suggest? I'd like to avoid buying a new tv, but, if I have to I will upgrade to S-Video (I won't go component because light guns are not available in component).
Thanks
D

In the menu opitions for MAME32 you can change the size of the game font, putting this up a few points should make the text readable.

You could also look at a different front end, something like mameWAH.  You can change the layout of the game selection screen allowing you to use more screen space to display the game names at a bigger font.  This could be an idea.

Cheers

Yup- this combined with a new tv running S-Video made a WORLD of difference!  Thanks!
