European Monitor Alternatives

Hey folks,

  I'm looking for full-range 15Khz - 31Khz multi-scan arcade monitor. For now I had my eye on the Wells Gardner D9200 or the Hantarex Polostar 28". The Hantarex is discontinued and I can't find a place which still has some leftovers. The Wells Gardner can be ordered from Happs. And is currently on sale. Very cool. It's only 475$ and with the current dollar exchange rate that's a steal. Unfortunately the price Happs quoted me if they ship it from their UK branch is about 988$ without tax and shipping...  Including tax and shipping they want 1283$.  For that price I could literaly get a flight to the US and carry one home myself.   


So are there any other monitor alternatives for us europeans?  Do you guys know any other distributors beside Happs? I'm from Germany if that makes a difference.

I think I finally have to give up on a native arcade monitor... Is a regular TV using RGB via SCART  an alternative? Are there any TVs that you guys can recommend?

I'm in the UK, I want to get hold of a Betson Imperial 27" Multisync arcade monitor" aka Kortek KT-2914. Probably be pretty expensive unless there are some here.

Just to let you know. I ordered the WG D9200 directly from the Wells Gardner website. I now paid 455$ plus 150$ shipping (US to Germany). They shipped it on a pallet and it arrived without a scratch. It took about 10 days to arrive.

I had some trouble with customs though. Of course they never heard of an arcade monitor before and were wondering whether it's a computer monitor or a TV. They had to take it out of the box and looked at it like it came from mars. After some hard thinking they declared it to be a computer monitor since it doesn't have any buttons on the front nor a remote control. 

Also I had to modify the power cable so it fits the german power outlets. It runs perfectly on 220V without any configuration.

Did German customs charge you tax?

Well, strange enough they didn't charge me customs taxes which usually is 8% for Germany. I had to pay VAT (16% for Germany) though.

Where did you find the standard XP wallpaper with the caterpillar?  I like it!

That wallpaper is a custom job. My girlfriend painted the caterpillar on the background that comes with XP.

She doesn't mind to share it. If you're interessted PM me...
