is there a pong type game for mame?

just wondering if their was any simple pong style game for mame
it would be great a nice two player game like that for my cocktail cab

NoNameMame supports the original Pong game. It does not use a Rom, but has some equivilent that goes in the Rom folder.

It doesn't even need that, its just an empty zip. The only reason I have it in there is to help frontends find it.

Pong was in MAME briefly, but it was pulled since it was decided it was more of a simulation than an emulation of the original hardware, and thus wasn't in keeping with the goals of the project. So, you could download the appropriate old version (someone help me out with the version number here). Alternatively, there may very well be a disabled driver kicking around in the source somewhere if you compile your own.

The pong games that existed in mame were all based on analogue hardware.  As such, they can literally never be emulated 100%, even with the fastest CPU on the planet.  That's the reason they were stripped from MAME.

And to be honest, who on earth actually enjoyed that game?  Even as a kid it bored me stupid.

Blasphemy! The whole reason I even started No Name MAME was to readd Pong. Than I just kept adding things. Anyways, go play Pong now, or I'll have my minions destroy you.

Well, it's not pong, but "Off The Wall" is a 2 player at once paddle game.  With each player at opposite sides of the screen.  I have a full size one, since I love Arkanoid type games.  You have 2 spinners hooked up?  On opposite sides of the table?
Return of Arkanoid, is 2 player, but both players are on the bottom of the screen.

Pong is god!  It is the oriignal arcade game. How can you hate on pong?

(Yes fanboys I'm aware of computer space and the like, but pong was the first "real" arcade game)

Rampart is very similar.  It's just 4 player.
