Is there a DDR pad that doesn't require a console?

I was thinking of getting a Dance Dance Revolution type game for my niece.  All the pads I've seen require a latest and greatest console.  She's only 7 and has an old PC and a Super Nintendo. 
What options, if any do I have?
Are there any DDR type games that just plug into a TV?

well you can get stepmania, its a DDR emulator and you can DL songs for every mix online. and then you get a PS to USB convertor, plug in your PS compatable dance pad, and you have every mix on your computer

Stepmania is great, but a resource hog.

I remember seeing  a DDR-style pad in a Toys R Us circular a week or two ago.  It looked like it plugged right into a TV like the Namco 5-in-1 games do, and it was a DDR style game.  That's prolly your best bet as it was designed for younger girls from the looks of it.

I have a 4 direction one that plugs right into the TV. I can't use it because I live on the second floor.

well if you start getting into it at all i highly recommend StepMania. It emulates DDR 99% perfect, and it is really easy to use. its set up just like any console version would be. You could set up the controls easily, and once thats done is just press start pick a difficulty, pick a song.

The american idol version is probably pretty crappy, but for a young girl it should be fine. Im just sayin, you might like DDR if you try the real game, its pretty challenging.

I know a ton of ppl are always like "DDR is dumb/stupid/for girls/whatever"  but it really is a lot of fun.  If you don't wanna do it in arcades, fine... if you have no rhythm... even better!!!

DDR is a ton of fun whether you are good or bad, just get more than one person involved.

That won't change people's mind since DDR-haters are as bad as console fanboys, but if you're at least willing to try it, do so.  You might like it.

Mine is kind of a POS. It was broken out of the box, but I was able to fix it. I won't fork it off on anyone else because my repair may break, and then I won't be around to fix it again.

Like everyone else said: An adapter like Soyo's Kiki Joy or Kiki Joy X with Stepmania is your best option. By appearance, I am the least likely to play DDR in public but it's fun - especially after a few shots of hard liquor.

Perhaps he doesn't want to buy an adaptor, a DDR pad and a computer for his 7 year old niece. He wants something she can plug in and operate all by herself using the TV.

I assumed that the old computer his daughter has would be sufficient enough and cost effective in conjunction with a pad and adaptor to run stepmania. Furthermore, I assumed that if I can plug a USB adaptor in an inebriated state, a seven-year-old girl can do better.

Provided the computer is in a place the facilitates DDR playing.  And provided that they have the ability to download, update, and maintain the simfiles for Stepmania.  I know it's less difficult than maintaining your ROM collection, but for a 7 year-old and her possibly computer-illiterate parents, it can be a daunting task.  On the other hand, for $25 shipped, and 4 AA batteries, you can just plug a pad into the TV and go.

The one I bought is called SuperStars and it plugged into a TV.
