I just gave my RID Prime and Magnus to my buddies 6 year old.

LOL. He'll have fun figuring out the Omega Prime transformation.

Hey, cool "real" Powermaster Prime. I have the reissue.

I ebayed almost all of my gen1 Transformers about a year or two ago.  I kept a handful, but I forget which ones.  I know I sold Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Omega Supreme, and a ton of others.  Got rid of a lot of GI Joes and He-Man figures at the same time.

jazz and shockwave were the best..looked like a car, and looked like a robot..and shockwaves gun sounds and lights were awesome..
still didnt comparew to robotech, but i had great fun with em as a kid...
the original megatron gun was the worst.. :P

the newer ones you cant even tell what the hell its supposed to be when its transformed..
the first generation transformers where the only good dones..

Couldn't put it better myself.

Shockwave rocked.

The only cooler first gen Transformer was Jetfire and wasn't an original design.  (more tie-ins to Robotech/Macross)

I liked them up until Beast Wars.  What the heck was up with that?

The Robots in Disguise series had some cool ones, most notably the ones pictured above.

Most of the new ones are absolute crap. Exceptions are Unicron and all the Alternator series.  They took actual models of cars and made them into robots.  Real steering with suspension, the whole nine yards.  More expensive though, $20 per.  But worth it.  I've got five of them on layaway.  Hold on, getting a site...

I think the japanese versions of the alternators even have metal bodies.
I've got a Unicron sitting on top of my entertainment center giving the double duece. ;)

Pricey to import, though.  Damn shame.

I want a Unicron too, but when they went on clearance, everyone near me sold out.  I'm not going to pay more that $20 for one.

Wow! That Alternator series look damn good! Now I know what to ask Santa for!
I'd like the Optimus Prime anniversary edition, but I can't justify spending that kind of money on a toy- what am I going to do with it? I'd probably end up burrying it in the backyard along with all my Star Wars toys like I did when I was 10.  :P

(oddly enough, my brother in-law did exactly the same thing. was anyone else a toy burrier as a child?)

My idea is to build a case to display them all.  But where to put the case?  The kids will destroy anything they can get their hands on.

I have a few of the Binaltech/Alternators too.

The Binaltech are awesome. They're "serious" Transformers, complex, fragile and worth every penny of their more expensive price.

The Alternators are the same, but sunce they're all plastic, they lose a little something, ya know?

I've also snagged several of the US and Japan TF re-issues. Fantastic. But again, not so cheap.  :-\

Well, since I'm broke, I won't  be getting any of the Binaltech's anytime soon, unless I can find a decent source.  I saw one site that wanted $60 for one.   :o

That's a suck price for that, but I like the other 'sub-standard' prices for the others.  I mean, since I'm going to open the box anyway, what does it matter to me if the box has dings?

IAWTP.

That's why I'm into the older ones, and the Alternators these days.

The designers can't seem to design something cool to save their lives.  Let's look at G1 Grimlock.  He unfolded pretty neatly.  A great way to move his head back so it's not obtrusive.  Heck, even his legs become his arms.

Move on to Beast Wars Megatron.  What the heck is this piece of crap?  I mean, seriously, you just sort of flip it's head out, and his legs down.  The dinosaur head becomes his arm, and the tail his other arm!

Unicron is pretty cool, though.

most of my transformers met their doom in a multitude of fashions..

they all were encased in ice at least one.. usually smashed free or see below:

then there was the big ass industrial magnifying lens i had as a kid..(the equivilant of sharks with frickkin laser beams to 10 year old)
these were the original "Battle scarred" transformers :P
i would burn laser damage gauges in them and occasionally ,if i had the patience and the sun was especially bright, i might have taken a limb for good measure  ;)

then there was the month leading up to the fourth of july..
ahh the smell of explosives and melting transformers!
I cant even go into the inhumanities i subjected my transformes to with these incendiary devices.. the most damaged , or no longer deemed worthy were typically sent to big cybertron in the sky with an M-80

boy am i kcking myself in the ass now!

I was more into obliterating G.I.Joes.  I'd shoot them with BB's then paint blood on the wounds.  Boy I was a sick kid... :-\

I finally picked up SilverStreak last night.  You weren't kidding about the Alternators feeling...hm, I don't want to say 'cheap', but I do get scared I might break him.  I noted in the instructions that it states he's made to come apart so you can't damage him.

What detail!  Wheels that steer, reclining seats, trunk and hood opens, all four doors open.

Yeah all the beast Wars and RID also had the made to come apart warning.  Guess kids these days get rougher with their toys these days.  Or the crappy parents of today would blame the toy when timmy threw it off the roof and an arm fell off.

The Binal Tech's just have that metal heft to them too that makes them feel sturdy.  Still upwards of $60 for 1 figure is... :o  And the detail is amazing on those figures.  I wish they'd make an RSX one and I can't wait for the S-2000.

I just picked up the Alternator Grimlock.

Looking at the picture, I had thought that the transformation would be very similar to the other.  Not so!  It's completely different.

I'm looking forward to finding the Corvette locally.

Nice!  I didn't know the Grimlock Alt. was out yet.  Have you seen any of the RX-8's?  I don't know if they're out yet either.  The only store I ever go anymore is Target and they never have squat.

On another note though I got some mad gifts from my wife for christmas.  I got an original complete metal body Predaking.  That thing is freaking awesome.   And I got 2 Binal Techs Dead End and Silverstreak.  Christmas was excellent.  I've gotten some new bookcases and am in the process of arranging everything since my move so I don't have any pics yet but soon...

Oh and Those vid's are awesome.  I hadn't seen the copier one.  I love the Citroen one.  I actually saw that one on Italian TV in a restuarant the other day.

Is the RX-8 Meister?  If so, I held him in my hands, and had to decide between him and Grimlock.  And the funny thing is this was @ Target, where you say you have suck luck.  My Wal-Mart had some, but they sold out *quick.*

Wal-Mart Online has a bunch of the Alternators on clearance right now.

Since there are a lot of repaints (the same car in a different color with a different head) I've been concentrating on only getting the ones I don't already have.  For example I have the red Viper (SideSwipe?), but I won't be getting Dead End.

Yeah I think that is Meister.  I haven't seen either of those out and about.  I'll have to keep my eyes open.  I really want the blue corvette.  And I'm still wanting the s-2000 that was announced.

Yeah I wish they'd stop with the repaints.  The dead end is pretty cool though cause it has a dfferent head and some different stylings with the roof and wing on the back.  Still not an original figure.  If I had to choose thoguh I'd probably have gotten dead-end first.  But I haven't had time to play with either so a lot of good it's doing me anyway.  They're just sitting on my shelf in the box waiting for me to have time...
