Final Fantast II and Final Fantasy III (FFIV and FFVI in japan) on SNES are legendary in my opinion.

Zelda 1 and 2
Final Fantasy 1,2,3
Dragon Warrior

SNES:
Final Fantasy 4,5,6 (6 is probly my favorite of all, although 5 is really good too)
Breath of Fire
Secret of Mana
Seiken Densetsu 3 ( aka Secret of Mana 2 ridiculous graphics for the SNES... sniff sniff)
Chrono Trigger (You have to play this if you haven't already)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Arcade:
Hmm can't think of any.

Genesis (didn't really ask about this, sorry);
All the Phantasy Stars
All the Shining Forces (Didn't like the Shining in the Darkness games.)

I forgot to sleep/blink for like 2 days playing shining force when it first came out. FF 6 and Chrono trigger are probly the best RPGS ever. Although if you haven't played  Shining Force or Phantasy Star 4 I would suggest doing that.

I have "Legend of Jongmaster" for Neo Geo which is supposed to be an RPG, but I can't speak the language.

3/6 is the best RPG for any system ever, (in my biased viewpoint) and to think that beast of a game was on the SNES. I still play it to this day. When I beat it, i play it again!

Terranigma (SP?) was another great one that not to many people know about on the SNES.

I'd definitely say Secret of Mana.  Possibly the best game I have ever played to date.  I have never fully recovered from getting this game stolen.  Chrono Trigger is pretty good as well, and there are plenty of different ways this game can turn out, although I never personally tried all of them.  I wasn't as big a fan of Final Fantasy III as the others but it wasn't too bad.  Definitely one you should try.  And a lot of people seem to like Secret of Evermore as well, although I never played it myself.  Needless to say, all of these games were for the SNES...the best system ever.

Call me an RPG noob, but I like Super Mario RPG for SNES.
The others are way too hard-core for me.

I can just imagine how much money an arcade RPG would rake in once you got someone hooked.
