SB16 PCI in DOS
« on: September 25, 2002, 11:31:51 pm »
Does anyone have a copy of DOS drivers for a SB16 PCI card.  I had an ISA one but I think the card slot is bad and I need to change it out for a PCI one if I can.  I know PCI is trickier but if anyone can provide some help it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance,

Odie

Good luck. I could not get a sb pci to work in dos for my cab. I had the drivers, and it actually worked, but here's the thing: the sb pci requires emm386 to be present. Emm386 and CWSDPMI WILL NOT work together. I tried it on a couple of computers. If I'm wrong, please someone show me how to make it work...

Try this page:

There are lots of links and helpful info on this site regarding using a SB16 PCI w/ DOS.  On one of my previous cabs, I ran pure DOS 7 w/ a SB16 PCI, but I didn't have any problem at all setting it up, the standard driver installation worked just fine.  Creative had many CTxxxx cards that were universally called the SB16 PCI, just like they've done with many of their cards.  Perhaps the card I had just happened to be a very easy/forgiving card to set up?
