Staying on top - MAME
« on: November 12, 2004, 04:40:48 pm »
I didn't see this in the newbie section (which kicks ass, btw)

How does one keep on top of the current Mame releases? I happened to stumble upon a 9GB Download through BitTorrent awhile back which had everything up to .082. I was debating whether or not to subscribe to one of those Mame Romburning services.

Anyone had any experience with those? How do you guys keep up with Mame, Daphne, etc.

Once you have a full set, you only need to keep up with new/changed games.  And even some of the changed ones can just be fixed with ClrMAMEPro.

I personally don't try to keep up with it, though.  I'm still running a very old version of MAME because I have everything working, and the newer versions haven't added any games that I was interested in playing.

I don't think you "subscribe" to those so-called "services".  They just use the current version.  It's up to you to keep it updated, (unless you pay them each and every time).

IMO, just find what you need on the net.
