Half-Life 2 BYOAC Clan?
« on: November 11, 2004, 03:17:55 pm »
With Half-Life 2 expecting to be released next week.  I'm wondering if anyone is interested in starting a BYOAC Clan?

If so, are user names should be Arcade related names:
Example:
- Galaga
- PacMan
- Ms PacMan
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Popeye

Anyone interested in joining?  If so, I call "WonderBoy"

I'll be playing as TalkingOctopus.  I don't have any time for a clan though and will probably be playing online rarely.   :'(

I have an nice php-nuke site all fleshed out doing nothing that could sever as a nice base of operations..
i just need press release pack from the devs to flesh it out with images etc.  ;)

i think it would be better also if people used their forum names ..makes it easier to associate them to here...

Unforetunately, my home does not have highspeed. Dialup is all I have.
Can HL2 be played over a dial-up (56K)?
Vids:  Home built MAME machine, Crystal Castles. Arkanoid
Pins:   Williams Aztec (working). Stern Nugent (not working...yet), Williams Phoenix (major not working, missing parts.... )

Always on the lookout for buying 90's game with Ramps that need work...

considering the robust features of the game, i would say you experience with dialup would likely be less than enjoyable.
however im sure its still possible to play, so long as you kept to a very local server..

You have to at least go with COOL sounding names.

Sinistar!
even SonSon is better then DonkeyKong

But Lilwolf is what I will probably be... Assuming I can get a copy... Have no time for the next few weeks..

I assume CS will be the first game of choice until other mods come out. Also I read mos stuff is done client side so  Half-Life 2 runs much better than expected on dial-up. )Some say even better then the first)

basically just going to need some banners and alot of custom button work for the forum theme.not to mention general content and some nice functional nuke blocks.

this site was originally going to be a replacment for a 70 member americas army unit i use to run, but after 2 years it imploded and i never used the site..till now ;)
being an old AA site, there going to be some content that obviously needs to be modified to suit HL2..
i have the site hosted here for now till i buy another more suitable domain name to host it on..

http://www.wolfpackunit.com
obviously the site lacks any content at this point but,
likes ,hates, feedback..

you can all register there anyways in the meantime and use the forums (plus im curious if the registration process is working)
i noticed on gamespot today that they removed the 16th release date from their site..
another delay?? or just being cautious i wonder.

i also read about their steam distribution process where you can download the game from valve..
ordinarily a title sold thru normal distribution methods yields the developer about 7 dollars per unit..
by centralizing and keeping it in house via the steam service they make 30 dollars per unit!  so if you got a cable or DSL connection, steam the game and help these guys make a buck..
"Modified"
"registration was indeed broken ,but is now fixed, theres some typos in the autoresponder, but aside ffrom that it works..do not use the

the more the merrier!

by the way whats everyone age?
hate to pry but its pretty important..

bottom line is this...players need clans, and clans need servers, and servers cost money

so its pretty important that we have an 18-21 plus minumum  age requirement to ensure that we have contributing members..
ive run several sucessfull online gaming communities and in my experience, when you dont stick to this rule things collapse pretty quick..
