.. means that we see things like this.

Where people go out of their way to let you know that your VIDEO CARD will not smell like smoke.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I for one appreciate that disclaimer--i bought a pc wheel/peddle set from a guy and I could have sworn there were gnomes inside smoking camels when I opened the box--had to leave it outside for a few days just to air it out--smoker's don't realize how bad they smell (or care where they throw their butts but thats for another rant)
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

I bought an old Coleco Telestar Pong unit once that reeked of smoke. Eventually I took it apart and cleaned it as well as I could. The smoke smell diminished, but it's still there. I appreciate the "smoke-free" disclaimer as well. It's amazing how that smell can get into seemingly everything and never seems to go away once there.

The reason that most ppl post those semi-retarded disclaimers is usually one of 2 things:

A. They've experienced it before

B. They dont wanna get asked a hundred times.

there you go.

I used to post: YES IT'S CLEAN on mine.

Weird. I think this bothers some people, and not others. I quit smoking a long time ago, but I was a closet smoker for a fairly long time, and some of my good friends DID NOT KNOW I smoked. I was always careful about only smoking outdoors and standing so the wind blew the smoke away from me.

Later, after I quit (and thus came out of the closet with it), I found out that a lot of people truly didn't know, and never smelled it. Except Lorelei, she could always smell it. I could smoke one cigarette outside with the wind blowing away from me, and then change clothes and Lorelei could STILL smell it 6 hours later. I would hate to be that sensitive to it.

the ones who had bad experiences from it are usually the most sensitive.

kind of like how people who were married to alcoholics can usually smell it, even after mouthwash.

I just fixed up my buddy's computer and he's a smoker.  When I brought his machine home and started it up.  My whole room smelt like smoke.  Opened the case to clean up the dust on the fans and it just sunk of smoke.  So instead of cleaning the fans indoors, I took the machine outside to dust it off.
