MAME version
« on: November 10, 2004, 11:35:06 am »
About to upgrade to MAME .88 under Mamewah, and I can't remember which version of MAME I'm running.

Which version do I download from http://www.mame.net/downmain.html

Command line or DOS? Does it make a difference?

Also, should I overwrite the relevant files I have (ver .78) or do a full clean install?

I'm running XP Pro.

Thanks

You want the "command-line" version.  It definitely makes a difference :)

Realistically you should start fresh, but you'll lose all your highscores and certainly the catver.ini and mameinfo.dat informations have changed.

  It's possible that you can just overwrite the old MAME installation with the new one, but be catious as wackiness can ensue.

Ta

  Start->Run and type dxdiag

  If you're running XP, you probably have version 8 or 9.

Nice one. Doubtless more issues will arise as I play around tonight. Watch this space.

Cheers
