PROJECT CANCELLED

PROJECT CANCELLED.

I got a much better look at this cabinet while pulling out the wiring harness and boards and I called the whole thing off. The cabinet has cancer, severe water damage going a foot up (including the entire pedal areas), and minor water damage everywhere else.

The only thing holding it together was the sideart.

It is currently being broken up into 100 pieces and is headed for the dumpster.

I am gonna keep the "head" part, which is in decent shape. I might be able to reuse that for something.

Ok. I have a STUN Runner.

It even works, well it didn't actually power up last time I plugged it in, but the power cord probably came off the power supply again, wouldn't be the first time.

It is a TURD. It has some cabinet damage, and all the stickers are damaged, and one is missing. The monitor also takes about 30 minutes to focus, and half the buttons don't work. The yoke has no overlay. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Overall it is really crappy, and I can't fix the cabinet damage without losing ALL the artwork.

So. I am doing this.

Fixing all the cabinet damage and installing an analog pedal on each side on the footrest.

Swapping the yoke for a Star Wars one.
Repainting the whole thing, to match the theme of the chosen title.
Probably use that krylon fusion paint on the plastics.
New marquee, to match new name.

Monitor wiring, etc all replaced with PC stuff. I'll either sell that stuff, or drop it into one of my junk cabs and drop it off at the next auction.

This puppy is going to be able to play all the yoke games, 270 driving games, and most other analog games, and it is going to be able to play them well. Besides Mame I will install the PC version of Pod Racer, and whatever else seems to work well with it.

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I voted for Red 5. It's the coolest name without being too "specific".

Also I'd suggest sticking to RED for the plastics. Since they are already RED, you'll have a way easier time getting a nice new coat of red on there.
NO MORE!!

I like red 5 too - you could get some red t-molding and a spacey artwork scheme going without being too "star wars" and it will look sweet...

Sounds like a good project to dig the usable parts from and trash the rest.

Well, I could repair the cabinet back to awesome condition, BUT I would lose all the art. At which point my time was freaking wasted both financially and collectably. Since a crappy stun runner with the art is worth probably the same thing as a nicer one without. And collectablewise I am sure there are much nicer STUN Runners than mine that could use my boards.

so i guess 'star-trekkin' is out?  ;D

red 5 sounds good. although you wouldnt want to go over board with the colour. some darkish theme featuring red would look pretty groovy...

Wheee! My Star Wars yoke came today. It is in awesome shape, better than any of my other x-y yokes.

I am almost done with my BIG mame cabinet, after that I will be getting into this project. I know I will be rebuilding/reshaping the footrests to integrate pedals.

Forget the Star Wars stuff.  :P

TRON it out and call it the "Light Cycle!"  ;D

Make it play Armagetron and all the aformentioned games.

That would rock hard like the stone.
