what am i missing. arcadeOS shows no games
« on: November 09, 2004, 10:05:29 pm »
ok. i've read and re-read the documentation. searched google endlessly. but i must be missing something.

here's what i have....

arcadeOS unzipped to c:\aos

mame36 unzipped to c:\mame

i start up arcade os and get NOTHING in the games list.

i have cycled through the lists.. through the emus.. through the orientations.. nothing. not a game in sight. what am i doing wrong here?

look in arcadeos.cfg

find the legacy support option.

Change whatever it is now to it's polar opposite.

Delete all .lst and .rm* files

run arcadeos

ok. that didn't seem to work either.  ???

i turned on logging to see whats happeneing and it's finding the ROMs in the mame folder...

but i'm getting this error for each ROM.

name NOT found for 0 : ARKNID2U
name NOT found for 1 : ARTWORK
name NOT found for 2 : BERABOHO
name NOT found for 3 : CFG
name NOT found for 4 : COMBASCJ

and so on.

i guess i'm almost there. any other advice?

Does it instantly stop when you type arcadeos and go to the blank menu, or does it show the command being used to generate your gamelist?

This is a very basic setup, I'm not sure what you're doing wrong.  Switching the legacy support and then rerunning AOS should have fixed that.

Failing that, you can reinstall AOS, maybe something got corrupted.

actually it shows me confirmation it's building lists.. then it goes back into command prompt.

when i try to run it again after the lst and rms files have been created it loads the frontend but again, there's no roms listed. i cycled through all the custom lists, emulators and orientations just to make sure nothing was disabled.

i'll try to download again later today.

would this have anything to do with runing this in XP?

You're running this under XP?  Jeeze, why?  It's a DOS program.  Use MameWAH or Kymera.  Better yet, switch it over to DOS.  Unless you don't have drivers for your audio.
