Another Aussie Cocktail
« on: November 09, 2004, 02:26:49 am »
Hey all,

I finished this a few months ago and have been too slack to announce it until now.
Built from Kyle Lindstroms plans, it took me about a ysix months of intermittent building to completely finish.

Uses a AMD 1800XP+ as the brains (my old computer) with sticks and buttons from ozstick, running through an IPAC2.  Have considered swapping the stick for Ultimarc competitions or similar, but really I don't mind the feel of the ozsticks. even for 4-way games. I've tried an actual 4-way and while you can feel the difference, i don't think it makes much gameplay difference to me. None of my friends have complained whilst playing Pacman either.

I've seen the cocktails some of you other aussie guys have built, and considered building a similar one at the time, but I liked the shape of the Midway ones.

I've got more plans to build other arcade related goodness, such as a driving cab and maybe a mini-cab, but after buying a new house, those things may have to wait a while!

Nice tidy job, have to agree, I also prefer the Midway design.

Any plans for artwork?

Off to Bunnings right now to find some of those stools...

Nice cab! glad to see you have the correct seating for it too!

Yeah, the midways have a nice look to em, and the CP is a little more comfortable than the japan/Aussie style cab - but when I make a cocktail, its gonna be the traditional "galaga" cab we all know & love down here.

By the way, how did you paint it?What kind of pain?

Have fun with your new creation . . .

painting was quite easy.

I just primed the mdf using a water based primer. then painted the whole thing with a water based interior paint. It came out quite nice.

cheers
